Sioux War Pony-1

This art got it’s start on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation at Cannonball, North Dakota. He was painted by Tony Two Bears with help from Lisa Yellow Luger and Karol Two Bears. I was helped by LaDonna Brave Allard who at the time was the Tribe’s historian to locate and to get introduced to the generous Two Bears family. It’s worth your time to look up LaDonna. She is very knowledgeable about Native history and also the recent pipeline fiasco on their reservation. “Sioux War Pony-1” is in the permanent collection of The Smithsonian.
